on another note, it took me less than a min to transfer a 1.5GB file from my 40GNX in media bay to the 7k60
It just took me 1 minute and 45 seconds to transfer 8 large .wav files totalling 1.55GB from a Toshiba 4200RPM drive. It was kind of entertaining watching the two drive lights. The Toshiba light was a steady orange, while the Hitachi light flashed about twice per second (or less). So, you're saying you like your new drive?

...sorry I took so long to reply. My Toshiba has two hard drive bays. I believe Dell dropped from 3 to 2 spindles on their new 'TOTL' notebooks...no more 2 HDs plus battery, plus optical drive...so sad.
I have 2 HDDs, optical drive (DVD-RW) and battery while on DC.
imo Inspiron series 8000-8200 are the greatest, imo dell made a mistake by discontinuing that line, they should just have upgraded to 3.06 ghz with with ddr2 better video and usb2 and that laptop would be a world champ!
