Low memory message on 'phantom E drive' Need to know how to switch drives

Question

I recently re-imaged my Dell Dim. 2400 and I added memory (in Nov).  I consistently receive an error message that the memory is critically low.  I added MORE memory (today).  Now I have 1.5 GB, but still receive the error message. When I looked at the system, it shows that my computer is running off of drive e (instead of drive c).  Drive C is where all of the memory is, but I cannot seem to access this drive.  It appears as if when I downloaded the drivers after I reimaged, everything stored on this 'phantom' drive e.  Question:  How do/Can I switch to the C drive?  Do I need to start over?  All of the downloaded drivers show as stored on drive E.  Arghh!!!! Drive E showed that it has 5% memory available, whereas C shows 48% available memory.   A special thank you to anyone who can assist me!

I am trying to access my C drive.  The system indicates that it is running off of E drive (and I don't know why).  I can clean up the C drive, I can save to the C drive, but I want my system to run off the C drive.

BTW...I only have 1 hard drive (I believe).  I am obviously not very computer literate! All I want to do is access the memory I have added.  Without it, I can't download or install anything new.  Heck, I can't even defragment because there isn't enough memory to do this (per the error message).

There is a distinction usually made between memory, or RAM, and hard drive space. You might be confusing these. You added RAM, not space.   Regardless, a clean installation of XP will solve all of your problems! :)

If you have all of your important files backed up, I would just start over. The procedure is described many places within this forum, including this thread. During the installation of XP, you will have the option to delete all existing partitions. That will give you the operating system on the C drive.

How do I access the disk management?  I think you are right that I installed it in the wrong place.  If this is the case, can I make the switch easily, or do I need to start over? Thank you!

Do you have just one hard drive or two? If you check disk management, that will tell you how your hard drive is set up.   Sounds like you installed Windows on the wrong partition.
