thats where i am confused. i read in the  form and on the web other places that a bios flash would upgrade the size limits, and also that sata is backward compatible with ata. but your saying now the case, so your sure about that?  just wanted final clarification.

SATA absolutely will not work in your system.  Though the very late model 9300s came with SATA drives, most came with PATA - to change, you'd need an entirely new system board.  The drives emphatically are NOT backward compatible.

 

I don't think there is a BIOS that will allow a 9300 with PATA more than 120G.  You can check.  Just because the BIOS is limited to 120G does not mean you cannot use a larger drive -- you can.  HOWEVER, and it's a BIG however, KEEP BACKUPS - because your data is at the mercy of the operating system.  If Windows fails to load, for any reason, you lose everything - and recovery is VERY difficult without BIOS support.

No, to SATA - you have a parallel ATA drive and must use another PATA drive.

 

The BIOS will support 120G or smaller.
