The most common problem with DVDs recorded from tbletop DVR sets is that the discs are not finalized. Please follow the instructions in your manual to finalize the disc, then try it again.
Sorry my error should have said finalised not formatted. Have refinalised the disc as per DVD player manual and it will now play on PC, however when I transfer to my Video Show Expressions program to edit it has no sound only picture.
Good to hear the drive is working. As I'm not familiar with the program you're using, you might want to see if they have a support site for help with the issues you are having.

Yes, I was a little confused by that comment. Normally, tabletop DVRs do not format discs.
