How Can I do a System Dump?

Question

Ok, before everyone tells me I'm completely nuts, hear me out. My system has been acting absolutely bonkers lately, and no one can figure out why. So, I want to just completely dump the hard drive and reinstall everything. I have all the drivers the laptop came with and everything important is backed up on flash drives. If XP, CTRL-F11 once at the Dell screen. If Vista, F8 before WIndows loads.
