How can I install a touchpad? Used to have it, now it's gone

My computer's been "wiped clean" twice for viruses, and the scrolling part of the touchpad doesn't work now, on the right side, or on the bottom horizontally. I've checked the driver and it just shows a mouse, not the touchpad. It used to have it. Can I download it anywhere? I miss that function.

Welcome to the forums :emotion-5:

Had you mentioned the model of your system, we may have been able to provide a link to the specific drivers you need :emotion-55:

You'll just have to find them yourself now, but it's an easy process.

Go to the main Dell website, and click on 'Support --> Drivers & Downloads'.

A box will pop up, in which you first have to choose your system (Desktop or laptop, then specific model).]

You'll subsequently be taken to the drivers and downloads page for your system.  You'll find the Synaptics Touchpad drivers under 'Input Device Drivers' :emotion-5:

I just received our new Inspiron 1525 and after one day of going through standard Windows Updates and adding applications, I also find that the TouchPad settings are no longer available as part of the Mouse properties (no Touchpad tab).  Spent 2 hours with Dell support chat, updated the Alps drivers, uninstalled and installed Synaptics drivers, all to no avail.  I'm now running it with the Alps 7.2.101.211 driver and as before, the only tabs i get are Buttons, Pointers, Pointer Options, Wheel, and Hardware.  The only functionality i get out of the Touchpad is moving the mouse and double clicking but i can't access Sensitivity, Scrolling, or any other options.

Any suggestions?
