I have a INSPRION 6400 and recently i had major problems, I went to do a restore, but  the computer failed to respond.

It is now fixed, but where can i buy a recovery disk to stop this happening again.

You can request recovery disk from Dell.

Welcome to the forums :emotion-55:

Just to clarify... the disc you get from Dell isn't actually a "Recovery" disc - in the strictest sense.

That is to say... you can't use it to restore your system to its factory settings.

The disc is simply a Dell OEM OS disc, which you can use to either do a 'clean' install, or a 'Repair' install - exactly as you would with any OS disc.

BTW:   How did you "fix" the problem/reinstall the OS - if not via a recovery partition?

If you used an OS disc, and formatted the hard drive/did a clean install, then you'll have wiped the recovery partition - and all the other partitions too for that matter.

And if that's the case, they're gone for good, unfortunately.  There's no way to restore them, because Dell doesn't provide 'Recovery' discs :emotion-6:
