X-Fi MB & Win 7
I am hoping someone might be able to explain X-Fi MB which came on my new Studio 435. I have googled this but apparently I am slow. When the pc arrived last week X-Fi MB was loaded along with the realtek drivers and all was well. Exactly 20 minutes after I turned on my new computer Vista 64 was removed (I hate Vista.. sue me) and Win 7 x64 was installed.
After the install I checked and Win 7 had loaded the realtek drivers but just to be safe I went to their site and grabbed the win 7 version. I then proceded to load X-Fi MB. Now when I try to open any of the creative software audio controlers I get a error message claiming that the audio device is not present.
It is my understanding, which is probably mis-guided, that the creative software worked in conjuction with the on-board (realtek) audio software/chipset to emulate a low end x-fi sound card. I guess my question is why, if this software worked under Vista x64, it would fail to work under Win 7 x64.
I did go to the Creative site and look for answers but there is exactly one mention of this software there and it is a static sales page. If I didn't know better I would think that this software didn't exist anywhere but the on Dell computer custumize screen :emotion-1:.
Does anyone have any advice on how to get this working or maybe somewhere else to look? Google has failed me this time. *sigh*

This is a software enhancement to the Integrated Audio sound module. It is a custom OEM (in this case Dell) supplied software enhancement it's not offered to "retail" customers. Since the OEM Dell drivers for the Integrated Audio are no longer installed and the supplied OS is not there, it looks like the custom OEM audio enhancement will not work. Maybe when the "final" and Retail versions of Windows 7 are released and Dell officially supports Windows 7 on this model (if they ever do) and they have Windows 7 Realtek drivers, they may have a version of the software enhancement that is Windows 7 compatible. Based on what they did with Vista, it will be after the official release of Windows 7 before any Windows 7 drivers show up for hardware that they decide to support (keep in mind Dell is in the business of selling new computers, not making old ones compatible with new Operating Systems).
FWIW, Windows 7 is basically Vista.

Thats cool. Thank you. In other words I shouldn't have paid the $30 for this when I ordered the computer. If I could go back two weeks to when I oredred the PC I would have just spent the extra $30 dollars for an actual sound card that would work. Live and learn.

Sorry to be bearer of bad news on the SoundBlaster MB sound enhancement software. However, with the amout of problems posted about SoundBlaster Xfi cards maybe you are better off the way you are now.
Because of all the problems with the Xfi cards that have been posted, I didn't replace my old SoundBlaster with a new Xfi card. I had an old SoundBlaster that I installed in my home built system with Vista. The card went bad and I bought a HT Omega "Striker 7.1" sound card instread of a SoundBlaster. So far it's working good in Vista 32bit, Vista 64bit and Windows 7 64 bit using the Vista 64 bit drivers. HT Omega has Windows 7 drivers due out this month, but the Vista drivers and software work well. The Striker 7 also has the "system mixer" function so I can record streaming audio from the Internet.
