Help Battery not charging - inspiron 1525

The battery on my dell inspiron 1525 is not charging.  It is at 0% charge and the laptop dies as soon as external power is removed.  The battery light flashes orange 4 times then blue continuously.  Checking the batery meter says status is idle.  Checking battery health says baterry is performing normally.  I have tried all the self help tips removing the baterry and replacing etc but nothing works.  I am fairly sure it is not the battery as it has gone like this all of a sudden.  Can anyone tell me what to do.  My laptop is 17 month old so it is out of warrantee.

The flashing pattern indicates that one or more cells in the battery is dead - replace the battery with a new one.

Good luck with your problem.  My Studio xps 1640 - battery, charger and motherboard died.  It started with charger not being recognized, then tech support said motherboard charger and battery were bad, said they would send one, and instead sent a box with a 90 watt charger (that did not work) and a 65 watt charger - wrong size, but the packing list said everything was there.  Very dissappointing.  I hope you have better luck.

PS watch out for high temps.  My charger reached 135 degrees and the laptop got up to 125 degrees.  Tech said that is why he thinks the motherboard is bad.
