REMOVING A CD

I have an XPS series laptop that died just after 12 months of use when the motherboard gave in. Before it hits the bin ... I want to remove the CD from the disk drive but don't know how to open. Can someone please help?

many thanks

df66,

You didn't say what model XPS you have but go to Dell Tech Support, enter your service tag #, look for manuals and open the service manual. You may be able to get to teh manuals w/o service tag #. I don't know.  It will tell you how to get into your cd drive.

Hope this helps you

Thanks Belboy3

The Laptop is a XPS M1330. I still can't seem to work out how to get the CD out. Do I need to unscrew the back? Is it possible to get the CD out?

df66,

Yes, it is possible to get the CD out but you basically have to take the computer apart. I have attached link to you service manual. The CD player is slot loaded and does not have an emergency eject pin hole. It's bascially the last thing to get out when taking it all apart.

Take it step by step and you'll make it. Good luck.
