Cannot turn on wireless capability on Dell XPS M1330

My wireless internet has been working perfectly well on my M1330 until yesterday. I was on the internet and then my wireless turned off suddenly. When I went to turn it back on, my laptop wasn't able to find my wi-fi so I checked the windows network diagnostics and I got a message telling me that my wireless capability is turned off. The switch on the side of my computer is in the on position, and when i went to Windows Mobility Center, the option to turn my wireless on is grey and won't let me press the button. I tried turning the switch on and off, changing power settings, installing updated drivers, pretty much anything I can think of. I have Windows Vista installed on my computer... Please help? I need the internet on my laptop for school!

Wireless Technology

The XPS™ M1330 system ships with a new wireless setup for the wireless switch. Instead of one switch there are now two:

  • Wireless switch — This switch enables or disables the wireless radio the same way the old keystroke did on older systems. If this switch is in the off position, the system does not pick up any wireless networks.
  • Wi-Fi Catcher™ network locator switch — When this switch is activated, the system scans for any wireless networks in range. The type of networks scanned for can be set in the BIOS in the Wireless Switch field under the Wireless section.

To scan for a Wi-Fi® wireless LAN, slide and hold the Wi-Fi Catcher switch in the momentary position for a few seconds. The Wi-Fi Catcher network locator works whether the computer is turned on or off, in Hibernate mode, or in Standby mode, as long as the switch is configured through QuickSet or the BIOS to control Wi-Fi network connections.

Because the Wi-Fi Catcher network locator is disabled and not configured for use when the computer is shipped, it must be enabled and configured through the QuickSet utilities to control Wi-Fi network connections

Hi,

I have the same problem with my Wi-Fi Wireless. I restarted the SO using the Installation CD provided by Dell, And Installed the coresponding Drivers, also provided by Dell. But the problem is still there. Now, the Wireless tuns on for a few seconds, and later it turns off.

I apreciate al your help.

Places to look to see if your Connection is enabled

If you recently install/reinstalled the operating system, did you install the drivers in the correct order? How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Press the Wi-Fi Catcher button on the side

Pictures are...

Click on the little square with the net or maybe launch

You'll see. Make sure you have the settings match mine...

Click on advanced...

Settings should also match mine.
