I suggest getting the IBM (Hitachi) 7K60.  I put one in my I8000 and it is fast, quiet and runs cooler than the last drive that I had in it.  This drive will definitely work in your I8200.

i say go with the 7k60.  the improvements it made in the performance of my i8500 are immense.  like bay wolf said, it definitely is compatible with the 8200.  i bought mine from www.mwave.com about 3 weeks ago for $240 including tax and overnight shipping.  i highly doubt you would be dissapointed

I also recommend that same Hard Drive (7k60).... I suggest you go here, it has a list of quite a few vendors who carry it in stock, and their current prices so you can get the best deal.

Should this work in the 5100?  I have a question, if I do this, is it difficult to reinstall all the softwrae to factory conditions?  The operating system will be easy to do, but what about the CD with drivers, is that confusing?

Finally, what kind of partition recommendations would you make for this drive?  Operating system, applications, and misc. storage?  However, I guess some applications have to be on the C drive.  How big should each partition be?

One more note: should we always be able to find 60 gig 7600 RPM drives?  If I waited for a year or until I needed the space, would there probably be something out there?  Does the faster hard drive create any trouble for the notebook, too much heat?  Vibrations?

Thanks.
