Hi Jack,

Please run the Dell diagnostics first. The procedure is described in the CD/DVD FAQ (link below). You need to run the READ test with a CD in the drive. Do this for both drives.

If the Sony fails and the Philips passes, then remove the Sony or just unplug it. Then see if your DVD burner works. If not, try the CD/DVD fix (link below), then reinstall Sonic and try again.

Thanks Osprey4 for the fast response.  As written in my post, I have tried these tools earlier. I just ran them again with no good results.  The only thing I don't understand is reinstalling sonic. As for as I know it has not been uninstalled.

I have gone into device manager & uninstalled both drives & reinstalled them. It says the devise is working properly.

Malware or  something ? I've run MBAM & MS Essentials & they show nothing.
