Is it a MBR or the BIOS?

hello world, on my Dimension 8300 (120 GB SATA HD) i would like to additionally install a Linux, probably RH Fedora. I already made room of 20 GB for that. Now, before installing I want to be clear of how exactly the booting could work. Via F12 I currently can enter the boot menu to choose whether to boot from CD-ROM, boot the Dell Diagnostics or Standard WinXP. Ideally I would want to add the option to boot into Linux to this 'F12-options' - is this possible? Is this menu implemented through a MBR or through the BIOS itself? (so if I install Linux, should I create a new MBR or not?) Any hints appreciated. .timo

When I installed linux mandrake and redhat I was able to partition the HDD and install a bootloader from the linux discs. This is the easiest way to install them. Fedora is basically redhat so I would think that it should have that in the installation also.
