Configuring drives into RAID does not happen automatically.  If your computer was delivered with the SATA controller set to RAID On, you may see the RAID status message appear when you start the computer following installation of the second drive.  If you do not select the RAID configuration page by pressing "CTRL-i", the message will disappear after a few seconds and the machine should boot as it normally does.

The only caveat is that the second drive should be in a port number that is greater than that of the boot drive.  This is usually no problem as computers with single drives are delivered with the boot drive attached to port 0.

Additionall windows may want you to make it a dynamic disc but don't do so, you want the new hdd as a basic disc.

So if I install the second drive and select the RAID configuration page on boot with Ctrl-i, I should make sure the system is configured WITHOUT RAID on and nothing will happen to my C: drive? I ask because I've searched on my question before posting and some said that breaking the RAID setup would wipe out the disk. Obviously the last thing I want to do is wipe my C: drive by mistake!
