can i upgrade my laptop inspiron 1564 processor and video card??
guys i wanted to ask that whether or not i can upgrade my laptop's processor and video card
currently my processor is core i3 M330 (2.13 GHz) and i want to upgrade it to i5 or i7, can dell do it for me or simply replace the whole laptop with a new one taking some extra money, if any of you know pls tell me, because i am not happy with its processing power. i think the 4 gb ram of the laptop is of no use unless i have a powerful processor, further i want to upgrade my hdd to 1 or 2 TB 7200 RPM from current's 500 GB 5400 RPm hard drive i think it is also a slow one.

If you are within 21 days of shipment, you can return the system for replacement. Otherwise, no - Dell won't upgrade. You can upgrade the CPU yourself - an i5 should work. An i7, unless you know the system supports it, likely won't.
The video chip cannot be upgraded in any way.
There are no drives for notebooks over 1T (which won't fit due to their height). At that, the 1T drives are below 5400 rpm.
It sounds like you should consider returning the notebook for a desktop system - what you're looking for cannot be found in a notebook.

hi.i have dell 1564 and i am happy with its config. but i need to upgrade it from i3 to i5..is that posible on the same laptop like just by relpacing it with i5 processor ??? how m i going to know that that is posible.. and 2nd problem is that usually when ppl increase or decrease the volume a graphical box is shown on the screen indicating the increase and dec of volume same for the brighness numlock capslock. that is not being visible on mine .. can you sort that problem too.. thanks

The CPU upgrade should be possible - but remember, first generation i3/i5s are NOT upgradeable to second-generation (Sandy Bridge) CPUs. Rarely are CPU upgrades worth the cost though - mobile processors are generally expensive, and priced out of proportion to the performance increase you'll see.
The other issue is likely a missing installation of the Dell quickset driver.

so that means dell 1564 is not from the 2nd generation...and would you kindly tell me what would be the dell quickset driver ??? do guide me through me that . thank you so much

(Just a comment - one thing to consider is the time and effort required to set up a new computer vs. replacing a component. The bigger consideration should be the waste of "tossing" something that isn't actually used up. Yes, one can sell the "old" computer, but it is likely to end up in that landfill sooner than later.)
This morning I replaced the 2Gb pair of RAM cards with a 4Gb pair - total 8Gb. It has made a BIG difference in the response time of my 1574 Inspiron.
