If you are running out of space on C:\ drive you should look into expanding it. It is the easier thing to do. And doable within Vista or Windows 7.

big i mac,

When you install a program, the programer almost always includes an option
to choose where to put the program.  The C: drive is the default if you do
nothing or do not choose a different location.  Sometimes the option is called
"Custom" install; or there may be a default path listed that you can change by
entering your choice of path.

If you insert an installation disc and just let it run and you just acknowledge
the screens, you will miss the options.  Rarely a program will request the location.
It is left to the User to exercise the options during the installation process.
