Hi Azi,
Click on the CD/RW gif in my post and scroll to Section 100, article 31, this deals with Windows Upper & Lower Filters, one or both may be corrupt. Dell`s article in Section 11, articles 2 & 1. Also as a last resort, a repair install of XP.

You may also wish to post this in the Inspiron Conference rather than here in the Dimension DeskTop area, better chance of getting a proper response.

Best Regards

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.

Predator, Thanks for your reply. I tried the 1st procedure you recommended (deleting upper/lower keys from registry), but no luck. I'll check out the 2nd suggestion from Dell. Thanks also for pointing out my posting mistake (mouse click blunder?). I've reposted to the appropriate forum.
