Insprion 8100 freezes at random times after I partitioned the hard drive.

Question

Ok, so I formatted my comp, and in the process I paritioned the hard drive into 2 parts.  I believe I kept all the OS and stuff on drive C and all other programs in drive D. Right after I did this though the laptop has been experience sever freezing problems.  Anything, from surfing the web, just moving the mouse around, or even doing nothing is susceptible to this freezing that occurs at random times. An interesting note, though, if you're a gamer, is that if I play D2 non full screen, the random freezing still occurs; but when I play D2 full screen, everything seems to be fine..... It's a rather old model, insprion 8100, and I was wondering if maybe all this freezing is due to my recent partition.

Judgbolt, Thank you for using Dell's Community Forum. I don’t see why the issue would be because of the partitioning. I would guess that it has more to do with a faulty installation of Windows.

Did you load the  8100 Dell drivers for XP?

Judgbolt, By 'faulty installation' I meant that it is possible that Windows was either installed incorrectly, or somehow got corrupted (due to whatever reason).
