Hi dwmzmm,

I assume you have not yet installed the OS, right? Can you provide the exact make and model of the drive?

I replaced the old hard drive that came with my E310 with the type in the heading above and can't get the new hard drive to boot.  Keep getting this error message at the top of the screen after power up:

Drive 1 not found: Serial ATA, SATA-2

Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility

Can anyone help me with this as to how I can get the new hard drive to boot?  Any and all help is appreciated!

What I would do, is go into your BIOS by pressing F2, and make sure it is showing in your BIOS. Then, put a reinstallation disc in to your drive, and press F12 at the dell splash screen, and select to boot off your dvd drive, and install your Operation System.
