Thanks- I think the ATA/100 will work with ATA-2/3/4/5.. but what about all the drives in 2.5" form factor and the specs showing 2.75- is this the norm or a different drive? will the internal ide connector be correct either way? I am going to have about 12 hours to get this right (going home for a day to do it) so I want to have all the variables out of the way. Thanks to everyone in advance!
You are the first to catch that! They are all refered to as 2.5" drives, and will fit. I'd get a 9.5mm high drive to be sure. The IDE connectors are all the same but you will need to move a blade connector from the old driver to the new.
[Edit] Let me amend that - you *may* have to move a blade connector! I forgot we were talking about a Sony notebook.
