...Called Dell Tech Support. The person at that end used DellConnect to attach to my computer.
She used the Search program option in the Windows start menu and found "computer management". Withing that, she navigated to Storage, Disk Management. At that point, she did a Format, and then Windows 7 could see the drive.
Good grief, why don't they include some instructions with the E-Modular Hard Drive???
Thanks a lot, thanks to this forum I could fix the same problem. Amazing was the chat with the DELL OnLine support!!! It was incredible!! They told me to address the manufacturer of the drive (Hitachi) because DELL does not manufacture HDD!!!! A simple matter of configuration, that takes 2 minutes to write 3 lines and say what was said here... instead of that, the person took 25 minutes trying to figure out why the E Modular HDD was or was not part of the laptop configuration... really POOR QUALITY of support.

More info:
The Device Manager shows both drives:
SAMSUNG SSD PM810
Hitachi HTS723232A7A364
Properties shows "The device is working properly"

Thanks for your post. I had the same issue and was easily resolved using your post.
Again, why wouldn't Dell include some easy instructions??? Crazy!

Strange that they would ship a system with an unformatted drive.
