The reply from Dell did not work. All settings were correct, as he suggested. The problem still exists. Email Tech Support from Dell suggestedd that I phone a Dell software expert, but I was disconnected three times after explaining my problem, and was asked to wait on the phone while he/she assked around.
Please read the original post.Is there anyone who knows how to correct my port problem??? Thanks.

When I try to play a DVD with the Microsoft® Windows 98® native DVD player I get a message saying that I need to have a TV connected. What causes this error message and how can I fix this?
You should be able to get your particular hardware installed with the assistance of the Dell Reinstall Guides for your system.
