48X CD Burner, no longer burns at 48X

Question

Good day all, I'm having problems burning cds at the actual full speed that my burner is able to..It was working for the first few times i used it, but after that..it will no longer burn at 48X, but at 32X and lower...My Cds are fine...I have not change a thing.. I tried looking for a firmware update but nothing..and Dell Support could solve it either....Can anyone help me? Thanks...

Open My Computer and right click on your cd-rw drive and select properties, then select recording, check the box to make sure it is set to record at the fastest setting.

When you say your CDs are fine - does that mean you are using the same CDs from the same batch, and still getting a lower burn speed?
