Hi kumar_mys,

I am sorry to know that the laptop freezes while trying to copy data and displays a blue screen error.

I suggest that you run a Diagnostics to check if there is an issue with the hard drive and other hardware components. Please follow the steps provided below to run the diagnostics:

1. Restart the computer and start tapping the F12 key at the Dell logo.
2. On the Advanced Boot Menu, select Diagnostics and press Enter.
3. Diagnostics will start and check the computer hardware. Please write down the error and validation codes if any.

Please reply to this message with the error code.

Hi Rajath,

I ran the diagnostics at the bootup when it went to express mode it checked and when it came to Sata hard drive it started to many errors each time if i continue.

the error codes were:

* 0F00:1344

Msg - Disk_0 - Block 401368656 - Cant read, replace the disk

next if i continue * 0F00:1348

                    Msg - Disk_0 - Block 195392983 - Cant read, replace the disk

next it gave * 0F00:1348

                   Msg - Disk_0 - Block 400961269 Drive did not complete command, update Firmware

next it gave * 0F00:1340

                  Msg - Disk_0 - Block 381078960 - Read error Replace disk

till end it gave one or the other error related to SATA hard drive.

I restarted and upgraded the BIOS from a16 to A17 and again i run the Diagnostics it showed:

Error Code - 0146

Error Code - 2000:0146

Hard drive 1 - Self test log contains previous errors, The given error code and ,essage can be used by Dell Technical Support for Diagnostics.

Again i tried to copy through DVD but it got Hnaged and showd Blue Screen error and some other error.

So is it my SATA hard drive is faulty, should i need to replace with new one. please help. If i replace there will be no other error or problem will persists right.

So if i want to buy Hard drive, can i Buy SATA Hardisk 2.5 inch 250GB 7200 RPM or should i but 5400 RPM. Please reply for this. Thnaks in advance.

and my Battery is giving 30 min backup so can i replace with compatabile battery as Dell is little bit costly. And how much this configuration SATA Hardisk and battery will cost me. Please suggest all these queries. Thanks again in advance.

Thank you for your reply. Based from the error message provided by you, I am sorry to inform that the hard has failed and needs to be replaced. Please back all the data to an external device before the hard drive stops functioning.  You can buy a 2.5 inch 250GB 7200 RPM hard drive. However, its power requirement would be more that a 5400RPM drive and this will drain the battery faster.

Compatible batteries are not endorsed by Dell and if it causes any damage to the motherboard, then the board would not be covered in warranty. Thanks for the reply Mr Rajath and yes i will replace the hardisk, But based on that error code there will no other component will be damage right?  And when i bought that laptop for second hand i installed win 7 enterprise and all vista drivers in win vista sp1 compatibility mode, did this cause my Hardisk to fail or it was already having issue when i bought from owner?  please reply to this please. ANd what are the OS i can put, can i put vista or sp1 or sp2 ultimate and other verions of vista or win xp sp2 or sp 3. And is vista Ultimate 32 bit OS or 64 Bit OS. Please Help in all this regards. Please. Does 1525 support 32bit and 64 bit. THnaks in advance. And i will not put any compatible battery for sure, only dell for sure. But soory i ask too many questions its just my attention to details Mr. Rajath.  :-) When i first  bought this laptop last week i didnt check diagnostics, i think thats where i made the mistake. i Didnt had idea about diagnostics. How will i come to know is the Hardisk and Dell Battery brand New if i purchase, is there any way to trace it. Please tell me..................
