bridge connection

hi, i am pretty sure a bridge connection means you can put 2 computers on one joint connection to the router, in a way.

so, i have a dell inspiron 530 desktop, and i had found a extra Ethernet port chip/driver, so i installed, it(is a chip you plug into the motherboard) and i got internet through it, now i have another Ethernet port on the computer so i would like to use it and use an Ethernet cable to provide internet for a laptop.

recap: a picture i made on paint! do not worry about the Ethernet cable from he router to the desktop. just tell me how i can get internet to work like this. p.s. desktop is windows xp, laptop is win 7. sorry for the quality, i had to use my mouse and I'm a horrible drawer.
