Hi Sid, From what we have seen with the NEC 1100a, nothing surprises me anymore, however the drive should have had the standard 5 changes. I could only guess as to why you only have 2, refurbished drive maybe,?!?! Contact Dell bye phone and ask, a free call, if you do not mind the waiting and India music...
Best Regards
God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the difference.
OK, let's try this again. If this is a duplicate, blame the system.

I had thought of the possibility of a refurb.

I have dropped a message to someplace at Dell customer support - may or may not be a place that can answer.
I requested that they contact their service contractor in this area and instruct them to visit my machine to install a new drive. Time will tell. I'll await their answer tomorrow before I try the phone call. (I don't look forward to phoning for answers.)
Thanks.
P.S. Interesting that you can apparently see my sig but I can't! Unless I'm not logged in and then I see it!
