blu-ray drive won't eject disc

Question

Hi guys! I've got an Alienware m14x.  It's got a blu-ray drive in it, a matshita uj167.  There's a disc in it that will neither eject nor read after the table the system was sitting on got jarred rather hard.       When I press the eject button or try to eject the disc from the menu you get right-clicking the drive, it makes little noises like it's trying to eject is, but nothing ultimately happens.  The disc is seated right - it spins freely in the drive.  If I need to, it looks like I could reasonably easily get it out with the old credit card trick - but I think if I did that, the metal gate would still be up and I'd be unable then to get a disc IN again.       I've restarted several times (I shut down to take the drive out to see into it) and when the system boots, the same sounds of the drive trying to eject the disc occur.  I don't think it's software related, as the drive is obviously trying to eject the disc.  The disc is unimportant, so if I do have to get it out by force, it doesn't matter if it gets scratched, and I'm willing to open up the drive itself if anyone's done that and found a way to make it work. Alternately, if I can get the disc out, is there a way to reset the drive all the way back to a natal state, or otherwise make it understand that there's not disc in it? Am I <ADMIN NOTE: Substitute character removed as per TOU>?  I've already had trouble with this system and had to send it back to Dell before, but it's out of warranty now.  I'm starting to think that Alienware is a bad deal overall.  :<

Thank you for what you have tried before reaching us. Request you to follow the below steps:

(1) Restart the computer, keep tapping F2 key at the Dell logo. BIOS screen appears, check if the eject button works here.

(2) Now use the below link and update BIOS:

(3) Uninstall the optical drive by going to device manager. Then restart the computer and check if same issue happens.

Thanks for looking at this!  I tried uninstalling and re-installing, and I tried ejecting at the BIOS screen.  I also ran the diagnostics up to where they test the optical drive - it claimed everything was fine.  The drive just makes the same 'trying to eject a thing' noises - at the bios screen, after it reinstalled...  I tried the link to the bios update which you provided, but I got an error when I tried to install it that the 'file size does not match'.  I'll send you a PM with all my info - I just got the computer in September, or else I'd have just grumbled and replaced it already, but I really appreciate your trying to help!

i know this is a few years old but I know I just had the same issue with a game disc not ejecting or even reading in the blue-ray drive, yet the drive says it functioning properly... searched everywere had no luck. I ended up getting the disc out by booting into bios and ejecting the disc that way. before windows could load and error it out. and it popped out, :) haven't had issues since but that is how i got my disc out if it helps anyone in the future :) (alienware m17x r3 )
