Hi Giani,

Welcome to the community.

To download any applications supplied along with the system you can visit the my dell downloads website from the link below:

http://bit.ly/9sK3DH

You would need to register using the service tag for the system and then you can download the applications supplied along with your system.

I hope I was able to answer your query today.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Giani,

I would request you to kindly check the same link on a different browser. Also, kindly do not provide any information like service tag on the forum.

Please send me the name and address of the person/company who purchased this system so we can confirm the details and advise you further.

Thanks and Regards
Sandeep P

Hello ! I installed Chrome and Firefox. I clicked on your link, check the box that ''I have read and underrstant...'' , down below it appears a button with Register System and after I click it, nothing happens. At least Internet Explorer said Service Tag Not Supported. I bought personally this system from ''Real Hypermarket'' Timisoara, Romania, and I am the only owner ever since. The system came with Windows Vista reinstallation media, but I migrated recently to Windows 8. The system was produced in Ireland. There is also another express service code on the back but I will send it to you if you request. For me it's a little strange that the whole process is so slow. Normally, under a system name, i should find all the associated software with the links.

Hi Giani,

You might want to try contacting customer service in your country to request replacement discs for your laptop.

For this system Dell Downloads is not the correct answer. My Dell Downloads applies for systems that came out in the time of Windows 7 or later. This system was before that time i.e. pre My Dell Downloads. Trying to register the system on My Dell Downloads is a waste of time. Media Direct is not available from My Dell Downloads.

You will need to request backup DVDs for this system including the Media Direct DVD. Generally you will need to call the technical support numbers here: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/adapter_recall/regional_support?c=us&l=en&s=gen but I can't see one listed for Romania you could try Ireland if the system originally came from there.

Also the results phoning Dell Technical Support for media seem to be mixed for customers outside the US. I cna see one on eBay but its for XPS systems and may not work on the Inspiron 6400:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dell-Media-Direct-3-5-Application-DVD-C821H-Rev-A02-/321055141022?pt=UK_Computing_Software_Software_SR&hash=item4ac060ac9e

I have not tried Media Direct with Windows 8. I'm not too sure if there will be boot problems but if you manage to get it working let me know so I can update my wiki.

Hi Sandeep, Did register, but response was that my [Amin Note: Service Tag Edited per TOU policy] was not supported l:) When I was still working, my employer at that time, an IT company in southern Illinois, purchased this laptop for me and when I retired, they presented it to me as a retirement gift. As well, I have used the same TAG number to get other support info from the Dell site proper without any difficulty, so I am not sure why I now get this: "Tag not supported" error message. All I am trying to do is to get an updated version of the Dell Media, one that is compatible with Windows 8.1 as I upgraded the Laptop from Vista, the original operating system loaded on this Laptop. P.S. A decade ago I had dealings with a Sandeep working at Dell Canada?

hard to register when the computers shut down your SysProExe.cab and stop it from running . I've done everything possible to get it to run but to no avail. fix your scanning software and check on the web seems a lot of people are frustrated over this problem

Media Direct was out long before My Dell Downloads and hence will say all these XP/Vista systems are unsupported. You won't be able to download Media Direct from My Dell Downloads. I have the .iso of it uploaded here:
