Hi Shirley Haworth,

Welcome to Dell Community Forum.

You can configure the multimedia control keys on the keyboard using the System Setup (BIOS) Utility or the Windows Mobility Center.

System Setup (BIOS) Utility:

1.Press during POST (Power On Self Test) to enter the System Setup (BIOS) utility.

2.In the Function Key Behavior, select Multimedia Key First or Function Key First.

Multimedia Key First — This is the default option. Press any multimedia key to perform the associated action. For function key, press + the required function key.

Function Key First — Press any function key to perform the associated action.
For multimedia key, press + the required multimedia key.

NOTE: The Multimedia Key First option is active only in the operating system.

Windows Mobility Center:

Press the "Windows" key and  "X" key to launch the Windows Mobility Center.

2.In the Function Key Row, select Function Key or Multimedia Key.

Regarding the issue with creating new folders, what happens when you try to create a new folder? Does it happen with all folders on the hard drive? Try booting into safe mode by tapping F8 continously on start-up  and test if you can create a folder or not.

Please reply with results/errors, if any, so that I am able to assist you better.

Thanks and regards,
Babita S

I too am unable to create folders; anywhere. I have done a restore from 10days ago when I thought it was working. The "New Folder" button doesn't work either. I can go into DOS & use "MKDIR" to create a folder; a pain. I restarted in Safe Mode with no change. I have also compared my regedit with my other HP-Windows 7 in locations & they are exactly the same (including value field). What now? Anyone?

I resolved that issue by going to http;//social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/97de8a2a-12f2-4381-a409-a78f4ae551cf and following their instructions the subject in the windows forum was Cannot create ne folder iin windows 7

Yes it worked, thank you, I resolved the no folder issue by following instructions from a windows forum entitled Cannot create new folder in Windows 7, however, my windows toolbars still have the word "burn on them, and in some places the word "Play" as if it thinks my files are all media files, and I don't know what caused that, but right now, it isn't causing me any problems that I know of.
