MD3000i - Degraded channel / physical disk paths

I have the Support files collected and need someone to take a look and tell me how to fix this. I will send via email to Dell support once I'm contacted.

Sam took care of me on this.  Updated the RC/NVSRAM and HDD firmware to the latest release. Following the procedures carefully, especially making sure there is no I/O on the SAN, fixed the degraded path problem. This process took 2 hours to complete including shutting down VM's, placing ESX host in maint mode and bringing all back up again.

If I can get you to gather a support bundle from your MD so that I can review it to see what is going on with your MD that would be great.  I will send you a private message to wich you can reply back with the logs.

One more for you. I have the same issue - Degraded physical disk channels (0 and 1). Are you able to look at my support bundle?

Hello, Mauicat1.

Sounds like you may have a disk on the bus causing enough chatter to throw the Degraded Disk channel error. The first think we'd like to do is clear the errors.

The commands we're going to run are as follows:

show allPhysicalDiskChannels stats;  //- check the status of the channels

clear allPhysicalDiskChannels stats;  //- clear them all.

set physicalDiskChannel [0] status=optimal;  //-

set physicalDiskChannel [1] status=optimal;  //- We'll run this, and set them each to optimal

set physicalDiskChannel [2] status=optimal;  //-

set physicalDiskChannel [3] status=optimal;  //-

       show allPhysicalDiskChannels stats;  //- Check them again and verify they're clear.

After this if they start coming back, we need to see which drive is causing the chatter, and replace it.

Did all those commands and the Recovery Guru error went away but the stats show error that are increasing. How do we identify the failing disk(s)?
