Dell Inspiron N5050 drivers problem

Hello,

I recently reinstalled Windows 7 and tried to install the drivers so it can work fine, but I have a problem with the wireless one. To be honest I've never installed a driver before and I just don't know which ones I should install and which ones I shouldn't. I downloaded some from here: http://ftp.dell.com/Pages/Drivers/inspiron-15-intel-n5050.html

A friend told me the basic ones to install (Chipset? Realtek? USB modem?), he told me those ones would be useful so I downloaded them.

  • Realtek RTS5138 Card Reader, v.6.1.7600.30126, A00
Chip Set, Realtek RTS5138 Card Reader (Driver)
  • Conexant D400,External USB 56K Modem, v.Drv_Win7-32_2.0.22.0, A02
    Conexant D400 External USB 56K Modem Win7 32 Driver V2.0.20.0-A
  • Intel HM57 Express Chipset Family, HM67 Express Chipset Family, v.9.2.0.1019, A00
    Chip Set,Intel HM57/HM67 Express Chipset Family,Intel Mobile Series 5/6Chipset(Driver),Multi OS,Multi Language,Insprion N4050/N5040/N5050,Vostro 1440/1450/1540/1550,A00.

I also downloaded these ones:

  • Wireless WLAN 1502 Half Mini-Card, Dell Wireless WLAN 1502 Win7
  • Dell Wireless 1702 802.11 b/g/n, BT3.0+HS
  • Realtek RTL8111E-VB Gigabit Ethernet Controller, RTL8105E-VB 10/100 Ethernet Controller, v.7.045.0516.2011,, A01
Realtek RTL8111E-VB Gigabit Ethernet Controller,Realtek RTL8105E-VB 10/100 Ethernet Controller (Driver) *** (This one gave me an error message when I tried to install it: "Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the MODEM device for this driver."
  • DELL,SRV,DRVR,NTWK,1703,ENRICO,Wifi: 9.2.0.496 BT: 7.4.0.126,A00
    Dell Wireless 1703 802.11b/g/n
  • Dell Wireless WLAN 1502 Half Mini-Card, v.9.2.0.225, A00
Release: Network, Dell Wireless WLAN 1502 Half Mini-Card (Driver), WIN7 32/64 bit, Multi Language, MultiSystem[9]
  • Dell Wireless 1701 Bluetooth v3.0+HS, v.6.3.0.7900, A00
    Driver for 1701 BT

And a video one that works fine.

After trying to install all these my wifi still didn't work. It doesn't appear on the network list. I have other PC and it works just fine so it's not the wifi. I searched a little on the forum for a solution but didn't find it. I saw people asked for this so I'll post it too, it might help:

Also I saw that drivers need to be installed in a determinate order or else they won't work?

If someone could help me I would really appreciate it, I'm pretty much confused about this.

Hi ksdust,

Install driver for wireless card using the link given below:

http://dell.to/1elhfoD

Drivers are under Network section.

Please chose correct Wireless card and Operating System, install the driver.

Hi Amogh,

I am facing the same issue as OP. I reinstalled the Operating System on my Dell Inspiron N5050 - Windows 7 SP1 64 bit.

Audio, Video Driver works fine. But I am not able to get the Wireless working

As you asked for Hardware IDs... here they are

Network  Controller - VEN 14e4 DEV 4747

PCI Simple Communications Controller - VEN 8086 DEV 1c3a

I did download the Wireless Driver ... but after it gets extracted in C:\Dell\Driver... nothing happens...

Please HELP ME!

I had the exact same problem with my insperion n5050 with Windows 7. Went through many help sights with different recommendations on what to do and what drivers to try. All to no avail. (3 days it took me to resolve this problem)

What I finely did was this:

I bought a Cat 6 network Ethernet patch cable at the local electronics store ($3.99). I got a 7 foot just to be sure it was long enough.

Plugged it into my laptop network jack,( FYI the one that looks like a phone jack) Plugged in the other end to one of the empty ports of my wireless hub.

And tada! I had internet access. But I wanted wireless and I was sure the wireless card was working and it was a matter of the correct driver (which did not come on the driver disk that came with the computer)

Now that I had an internet connect I could go to the Dell sight. Do a detect my product instead of typing in the service tag.

once I did that I could see all components of my laptop including what wireless card I had.

Then I just did a search for drivers for that card for windows 7 I got a link clinked it and it brought me back to the dell sight with the correct driver for windows 7. I installed it and it worked. Yeaa! If you are unable to find the driver let me know I will post the name of it and you can search dell for that name. But it will only work if you have the same wireless card as my Insperion n5050. You might also post the name listed for your wireless card then I would know for sure if it is the same.

I was having the same problem after reinstall win-7 64 bits.

Here is some hints:

1. make sure the Fn key is working. Because after I re-installation my Fn key is not working

- it allows you to turn on/ off the wireless by pressing Fn + F2

- try Fn + F4/F5 to increase or decrease the lightness of your screen

- download Dell Inspiron N5050 System BIOS and Dell Touchpad Driver will solve this issue

2. download Dell Wireless 1501/1503/1701 Half Mini Card Driver

- i also tried other wireless drivers, but non of them worked, i guess the only different is this driver has 1503

3. restart computer, press Fn+F2 your wifi should come out.

You can find all driver in http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/EN/19/product-support/product/inspiron-15-intel-n5050/drivers

VEN_8086&DEV_3B64 is from the Intel management Engine Interface and not a Wireless Card.

Hello,

I have reinstalled windows 7 from scratch, then the drivers from the Dell websites... And I encounter the same issues on my Inspiron N5110 15R :

  1. Wireless device does not work
  2. (and Touchpad isn't recognized as well... I tried to install the Alps touch pad driver, but it couldn't succeed)

Here is my service tag : <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>

and the express service code : <ADMIN NOTE: Express service code removed per privacy policy>

I spend several hours trying with no success... Could you help me please ?

Best regards,

Laurent & Marina
