Dell Venue 8 Pro WiFi Issue

it seems either way I disable the Wi Fi by the 'switch' itself or 'Airplane' mode it is a pain to get it on and have to manually 'disable the entire WiFi and then enable it joggin the WiFi off and on til it seems to catch on I am trying to turn it back on. I am only trying to turn it off to save battery right now but is this normal? Will a fix be forth coming because i'ts a pain right now.

This was the clearest explanation I have seen. It worked. Thanks.

Danny, I'm concerned that removing the KB updates might impair the security or some other aspects of the Venue 8 tablet computer. Can you assure me that won't happen? Also, won't Windows automatically look for updates and try to reijnstall these?

Do you mean the clearest explanation of the problem or the clearest explanation of the fix? If the fix is to remove some Windows updates, I'm concerned about the possible security effects (etc.) of removing the updates.

Mike the problem with those updates is that they were installed in the wrong order.  It's a Microsoft error that they've corrected.  They should be deleted, then reinstalled.

Please read the explanation and instructions here:      http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-networking/dell-venue-pro-loses-wireless-connection-after/bc8a1426-fdb8-466d-b074-c80a06e70d76

So the updates that are deleted won't compromise your security. Here are the functions of the updates:

KB2887595 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/search/DownloadResults.aspx?q=KB2887595

KB2883200 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2883200

KB2903939 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/search/DownloadResults.aspx?q=KB2903939

T
hese updates are to improve the "Windows 8.1 Experience" mostly, and none of the patches say anything about security updates.

I am sorry, but none of those updates are causing the error with the venue pro 8 I have. The one that caused the problem. I cant think of it off the top of my head. My wife has the tablet now, but it was from an update that was released and downloaded today. 8/26/2014. it was the very last one on the update list and the most recent to show up in the programs folder. so I deleted it and fixed the issue. if it happens again I will update this post with the id number, but was not any of the above listed.

Also this issue is not corrected if it still happens since their corrective actions.

It still happens for me. I deleted the updates and if I'm idle for a while, the network adapter shuts down (including Bluetooth).

It's starting to really annoy the *** out of me that Dell has not provided a solution to the problem.

This did help with my wifi problem but my Venue 8 pro has another when it comes to seeing the infamous Blue screen of death when I try to access the cameras

I reset mine back to factory (I've lost count how many times I've had to do this now due to faulty windows updates) and it's all working as it should so there is at least afew more that our little tablets don't like

The Bios update did not resolve any problem than creating more issue. it mostly lock down some feature deeply.

No no no no no..... people stop suggesting to uninstall those patches! THAT IS NOT A DEFINITIVELY SOLUTION. Whatever you do (uninstalling, reinstalling in a certain order) WILL NOT WORK. Believe me, I wasted entire days trying all the "suggested but not proven" methods by members of this forum and no, no, no. It is a problem with the drivers and DELL MUST SOLVE IT. STOP SUGGESTING STUPID METHODS IF YOU DO NOT VERIFY THEM. I can't believe why Dell avoids to solve this.

Having all the dell updates on and all the windows updates off has seemed to have solved my problems and can confirm that my venue 8 is running without any issues. every problem I have had with the venue I can confirm has to do with Microsofts faulty updates which cause this devices problems such as BSODs when using the camera or consistently losing the wifi

Hi All,

I bought my V8Pro last December and lost Wifi a few months later. I followed the info about removing the 2 notorious updates and re-installed in the correct order - WiFi was fixed. HOWEVER, it just happened to me again earlier this week. Nothing I read here worked. I checked Dell support and found that they have made several updates to the BIOS. I upgraded from A05 to the latest A09 and Presto! Fixed!! Good Luck.

Good to hear--the first I have heard of the new BIOS fixing the WiFi issue.

Didn't see the latest bios update

I have mine updated with the new bios and so far it's looking very promising. I'll key in if I run into problems with the A09 Bios
