Inspiron 15Z 5523 problem with hinge screws

Hi!

I bought my Inspiron 15Z in march 2013 and since the very beginning there was something wrong with one of the hinges. It was a little bit slacky and there was a visible gap between the hinge and the display cover. I reported this to Dell Poland but they only responded that it was a mechanical defect and my warranty didn't cover it.

Today, while opening the laptop lid, the hinge has broken down completely and it looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/N3lO8Ok.jpg.

Could you please advise me, what am I supposed to do now? Looks like it's only a matter of thightening the screws but I don't feel like dissassembling a half of laptop parts just to get to the hinge. Is there any simple fix for that?

I suddenly have this same problem! It is all over the internet too. It sounds like a problem with the was it was made. How is this NOT covered under warranty? I also don't feel like taking apart the entire lid just to screw in the screws. What if they are stripped out and won't go back? My laptop is barely 1 year old. Now what?!

I am having the same issue with my Inspiron 15z that I bought in Nov 2013. The Hinges are broken. They were jammed and when i tried to open it, the hinges broke. Both the hinges. I did not even apply any pressure just tried to open the lid. Called the customer service and was told this is not covered. I am fine with paying half of the repair even not being my mistake but dell is lacking this consideration towards it customers. I am NOT going to buy any more dell laptops. Very much dis-appointed with dell.

I also have the same issue  with 15Z Inspiron ultrabook and send laptop for service to dell but they returned it back saying they dont have parts to repair it. Really....and today realized from a local vendor that backlid needs replaced, so i called dell and guess what they do have a backlid for the laptop...

It really force me to think how professional there service people are.....

Really bad experience, will never buy anything from dell and will recommend people never to buy from dell

They lack professionalism and do not care for regular customers. I did not do a mistake, but i did blunder by buying at least 4 laptops for me and my family in last 9 years....

Firstable, sorry for my bad english !

Well i have the same experience than the other posts before.

The left hinge gets off of the screen because of the screws weren't plug professionnaly.

First Dell and last dell for me...  I didn't want to buy Acer because i heard very bad news about hinges also but dell is not better... (and dell is not cheaper)

I understand why now with the "made in china" tag on the laptop...

Shame on Dell

I bought a Dell 15z and after 1 year, the hinge on the right came unscrewed. I brought it back to Best Buy and the guys at Geek Squad put it together again. Now, here we go again and the same screws came undone. I'm disappointed that Dell doesn't recognize this as a product defect. Would I buy another Dell???

Reading the other posts, it seems people from a wide geographical error took the time to report this problem. Too bad Dell hasn't responded.

I am having same issues. The hinge has come off. Mine is more than 3 years old. I have many other laptop but this is the first type of issue I have seen where hinges have come off. Poor mechanical design.
