Touch screen is not working properly after Windows 8.1 update in XPS 12.

Hello everybody,

I have gone through all the post posted by community members. I too had a problem with my trackpad where right click doesn't work after Windows 8.1 update but after reinstalling cypress trackpad drivers, it works fine for me.

But the problem now is that, my touch screen does not work properly. I calibrated it several times and also done various restarts but it does not work. If I touch the screen, it displays various cross lines and could not control my display. I have been facing this only after Windows 8.1 update. It is not at all working at al after this update.

Anyone please help me as soon as possible. Its Windows 8.1 bug or my hardware problem?

Answers will be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Best solution I found and works everytime - Go to device manager - Click Human interface devices - Click first usb input devices properties - power management - unclick allow the computer....

Reboot - Works like a charm.

Hi Balasubramani,

I would request you to update the bios and chipset drivers. Please follow this link.

Punch in the service tag and download the required drivers.

The service tag can be accessed by flipping over the system badge. Use a scribe or a flat-head screw driver to achieve this.

Hi Shrikanth,

First of all I would like to thank you for respondint to the thread. I tried with all the driver updates but no use.

In filter section, BIOS does not contain any drivers to update for Windows 8.1. What shall I do now?

Thank you.

Finally I got solution for this. If anyone found this problem, follow these steps.

1) Press Windows key and type 'Control Panel'

2) In search, type 'Calibrate' and select 'Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input' under 'Tablet PC Settings'

3) Select 'Reset' under Display options and select 'yes'.

Thank you.

I had one 'USB Input Device' under 'Human Interface Devices' that was disabled. Enabling it brought back my touch screen!?!

I have tried all the options listed here:

Installing bios and chipset updates

unchecking power option from the 1st USB device in device manager | HMI Input devices

in calibrate, reset button is disabled.

please let me know, if some could fix it

Disabling Fast Startup in power options fixed that problem for me.
