Dell studio 1558 bios error code 3-2-1
Hey,
I have been having some issues with my laptop, win 7 64 bit. amd HD 5400
It started with some graphical issues, artefacts appearing like triangulation from the top left, which progressed to crashing. On the BSOD it reported that an attempt to restore the graphics drivers had timed out.
I tried updating my graphics drivers, and was progressing to other systems, but now can no longer get to Windows.
On restart nothing now appears on screen, and only works when plugged into an external monitor.
Using the startup diagnostics the text is corrupt and unreadable with odd white shapes. I then get the beep code 3-2-1
Any suggestions?

Are you seeing the same fault on the external screen? If so, the video chip is toast -- you'll need a replacement mainboard.

I only get video on the external monitor, the laptop screen doesn't display, though the screen itself is fine... So I guess that agrees with you.
Thanks, now I just need to work out how to replace it.
