UP3214Q/UP2414Q - 1/2 screen issue and/or No picture after powering off, then on

I got some more problems with the UP3214Q: Every couple of computer starts, once I get the login screen displayed, only half the screen shows a picture (the right hand side), with the left half being black. After login, I get the full picture. Prior to the login screen, I also have full screen picture (BIOS screen, Windows loading screen). The second issue is even more annoying: If I power off the device while my PC is still running, then power it back on, I will never get a picture again. No amount of hitting random keys and klicking about (I can hear windows and moan in the background If I manage to blindly hit the wrong option) will get back any picture. Neither will switching to another input then back, nor will unplugging the displayport cable from the machine, or putting the machine to sleep and returning it back from sleep. The only way to get the picture back is to shut down the shut down the machine completely, then boot it up again. Is this supposed to happen or is something wrong with my display?

custhelp is an Oracle site and used by Nvidia.

I don't want to be alarmist, but that link is NOT to nVidia and nVidia DOES NOT have this driver on their actual site.

So I'd shy away from it.

Thanks pidge2k!

From the notes on that page -

Installing the NVIDIA display driver
1. Close any Windows programs you may have open.
2. If you see a Windows Update notification from the Windows notification area on the end of the taskbar, we recommend you first reboot your computer to allow Windows to complete these installations.
3. Once you are back in Windows, locate the NVIDIA 337.61 hotfix display driver which you saved to your hard drive. Right-click over the file -> select “Run as administrator” and follow the installation instructions. Be sure to choose Custom- Clean installation.
4. After the NVIDIA installer has finished, reboot your computer once more to finish the process.

This should work on the older firmware.

Thanx Chris, I allready filled in that form. I always use the latest drivers, now beta 14.3, and the issue is still present now and then.

We use a CRM system by Oracle for our support site but the driver itself is hosted by us.  Apologize for the confusion.

From looking at the Nvidia KB article for NVIDIA GeForce R337.61 BETA Hotfix Display Driver Release:

The supported GPU's do not show Nvidia Quadro what-so-ever. I have a Quadro K5000 with this monitor, can I install the new driver without issue?

I work for NVIDIA Software QA team.  We have just posted a GeForce 337.61 hotfix display driver to address the half screen issue with the UltraSharp UP3214Q/UP2414Q LCD monitor.  Direct links available from the KBA below:

Thank you, when are you going to release it as stable? I don't like to install beta software on my PC.

I've installed the drivers to what seems to be success. I made two attempts to upgrade the drivers first, though I suspect the BSODs I was running into were related to my SLI configuration (which always seems buggy when enabling/disabling).

With a custom/clean driver installation the drivers were laid down just fine and I seem to be back in business. Will need to do more testing to confirm.

Half-screen and blank screen issues when changing resolutions and restarting seems to be resolved, however I'm still encountering instances where the display does not successfully come back from power-saving.

Note: This is not from full system sleep (S1/POS or S3/STR) but merely "Turn off display" in Windows Power Options. I have not tested whether or not the display reliably comes back from a full system sleep.

We are still several weeks away from our next driver hence why we released a hotfix driver at this time.

I'll pass this along to our software team.  What graphics card are you using?  What OS?  What video BIOS version is on your card (you may check this from the System Information link on the bottom left hand corner of the NVIDIA Control Panel?

Quadro cards are supported in this driver as well however they are not highlighted in the article.
