INSPIRON N5050 ERROR CODE 2000 - 0142, VALIDATION 48618 / WINDOWS 8 TROUBLESHOOT.

Hi,

I have my DELL Inspiron N5050 for over 2 years now and it worked perfectly until I decided to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 from a downloaded Torrent File.

It worked OK after the installation, but lately I've been experiencing an issue (after the black screen DELL Logo startup) with a blue screen popped up and it says :

"Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired
The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information.
File:\Boot\0xc000000d"
I've tried to download (from other computers) some drivers (N5050A03 and N5050A03 specifically) that are required, so Windows 8 can work properly on my  DELL Inspiron N5050, saved on a USB Flash Driver, press F12 on the DELL Logo Startup (black screen), boot with the USB Driver but it can't install them.
I ran the "Pre-Boot System Assesstment" (pressing Fn key + Power Button) to see if there were another problem on the PC and after the (thorough) test, it throws an error on the hard drive showing an "ERROR CODE 2000 VALIDATION 48618".
What does this means?
How can I fix both problems without losing any file data or program on my DELL Inspiron N5050?
Waiting for your valuable answer.
Best Regards,
Ruben Alvarez

2000-0142 means you have a faulty hard drive.  You'll need a new, 2.5" 7- or 9.5 mm SATA notebook drive (hard drive, hybrid drive or SSD) to replace the failed unit.

If you have data on the drive you need to recover, IMMEDIATELY cease using the system and remove the hard drive.  Mount it into a 2.5" external case and attach it to a working system by USB.  Copy your data to the working system.

You have a narrow window of opportunity before the drive fails completely - so make the backup before you do anything else to the system.
