As for why iTunes won't recognise the Sting CD, check to see if it's one of those copy protected cd's? or use a different program to rip the CD, EAC (Exact Audio Copy) http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/ is a good one, it's free too, if the CD turns out to be a copy protected one this utility can get around it.

To get autorun back install tweakui http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp open up tweakui select 'My Computer' > Autoplay > Types and tick the 'Enable autoplay for CD' and reboot.
