Dell Inspiron 17 3737 - Switchable graphics not working

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 17 3737 with Intel HD 4400 and AMD 8870m, after buying an SSD and installing Windows I can't get the switchable graphics to work. The driver I installed is the one listed in the drivers download section of my laptop's service tag. Both boards are shown in device manager, I can configure switchable graphics, however, when I  start a game I play it for about 20-30 minutes then the image freezes, the screen goes black and it stays like that. The laptop temperature is very high and I won't even let me boot Windows again.

I tested the video performance with Furmark and the same happens, moreover, Furmark doesn't even detect the AMD but it somehow uses it for rendering.

To be frank I don't know what to do to get this solved.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Cristi

Thank you for your answer, the laptop was cleaned 3-4 days ago, I opened it completely and made sure no dust ramained.

The only thing I changed is the paste in charge of conducting the heat, I did put enough of it, however, could that be the issue?

Check the heatsink for dust accumulation and clean it thoroughly - the overheating is the source of the problem.
