Wifi stops working when computer wakes from hibernate or sleep
I have a new XPS 15, with windows 8.1 and a Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 wireless card and it appears that every time I either hibernate or sleep my computer, on waking it is unable to connect to any wifi network. I'm able to reconnect by restarting my computer, running the wifi troubleshooter, or disabling and re-enabling the wifi adaptor. While this it not an absolutely terrible issue (now that I've found workarounds that don't include restarting my computer), disabling the adaptor did completely crash my machine once so far, so I'd like to get this fixed ASAP as I'd rather my new computer be fully functional to begin with, or things could go downhill quickly (I might consider returning it if things don't get fixed, but I'd really rather fix it as I have already transferred most stuff over from my old computer).
I've made sure all software on my computer is up-to-date, including the wifi driver (version 17.0.2.5). I have not installed any software that should interfere with the wifi adaptor.
Please let me know if this is a known issue and there are fixes, or if not if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it. Thanks!

My latest fix is enabling this setting, although it may already be enabled on yours and I haven't done enough testing to prove it's solved:
Does it connect if you leave it for a minute? Mine did.

So, that was already checked on my computer, and unchecking and rechecking it did nothing.
I actually was going through all the programs on my computer to see if there's anything that could be causing issues and noticed "Intel Rapid Start Technology", which sounded like it could be relevant. I tried disabling it and so far the issue has disappeared (although I've only tried one hibernate and one sleep so far). Crossing my fingers that this is a permanent fix and hope it helps if anyone else has the same issue!

Interesting, I don't even have that on my Win 7 machine. Seems there's no single cause/solution, just the driver is hopeless in making sure wi-fi connects after hibernate/sleep.
I've still got 10 other Intel bloatware apps installed though, you'd think they'd at least test they don't conflict with Windows and their own drivers!
Backup plan is just to buy a cheap replacement wireless card on eBay with a different chipset. Will avoid Intel like the plague next time I'm buying hardware.

So, sadly, that doesn't seem to have been a permanent fix, as I just woke my computer from hibernation and had the issue again. I'll try disabling the other intel apps, just in case they help, although the others don't really sound like they have anything to do with it.

Some claim recent drivers have fixed it and the Dell-approved one you're using is very old now.
Does it happen if you let Windows manage the connection?
Mine is thankfully behaving but any more problems and I'm buying a replacement card!

What do you mean by let Windows manage the connection? I'll try updating the latest non-dell approved driver and see if it helps.

I mean if you right-click the little Intel PROSet wireless indicator there's this option:
Use Windows to Manage Wi-Fi
Honestly I don't think it'll make any difference, it didn't for me. Same with the Reset PROSet option.
I got lucky with my fix but hopefully a new driver will do it for you.

Updating to the newest drivers on the intel site seemed to help -- I haven't had the issue in about 2 days, hopefully it stays this way this time!

Having just installed the latest proset driver from Dell (20.10.1) I had a problem where I got a BSOD on wake-up from sleep. I tried older versions of the driver but they all gave the problem you report here, the adapter could not detect *any* wireless networks after wake-up. Eventually I installed this old version from Dell (16.1.3.1_A02) and that fixed the problem, although be warned you have to uninstall the later Proset and also the device drivers for both the wireless network card and the 7602-specific Bluetooth adapter first.
