U2414H, Dual, PSM, Latitude E7240, E-port Plus port replicator

I have two Dell U2414H monitors that I just purchased connected to a Dell E-port Plus Advanced Port Replicator with a Dell Latitude E7240 laptop.

The Dell U2414H monitors are connected to the Port Replicators with the provided DP>mDP cable.

Video 1 DP to mDP Monitor
Video 2 DP to mDP Monitor

The Monitor inputs are set to mDP (Mini DisplayPort).

The Monitors never display any output and immediately go into Power Save Mode.

As a test, I have undocked the laptop directly connected to each monitor using HDMI and they instantly display my desktop on the screen. The screens work in this configuration.

What can be done to troubleshoot and resolve issue?

As a gut feel something was wrong with the cables, I went out to MicroCenter today and purchased two new sets of cables (DP -> DP).  I attached them to the monitors and the docking station.  It resolved the problem.  Both monitors are up and running without issue.

Thank you very much for all your help!  I greatly appreciate it.

Is the 130w power adapter connected to the dock? Dock the laptop with the lid open and power it on. Open the laptop display properties and see if you can enable the U2414Hs as extended.

The 130w power adaptor is connected to the dock.  As suggested, I docked the laptop and powered it on with the lid open.  I went into the laptop display properties, and was unable to enable the U2414Hs as extended.  They are not even being recognized.  I manually selected 'Detect' and I receive notification 'Another Display not detected'.  From the pull-down menu for Display, the only selectable item is "1. Mobile PC Display".

I agree it is rather peculiar issue.  I do not have any other system available to test the DP or mDP on these monitors.  I know the monitors work with a direct HDMI connection straight from the laptop (no docking station).

The monitors never even wake with the DP / mDP connectivity from the docking station or get detected.  Other peripherals (mouse and keyboard) work fine from the docking station.

That does not make any sense to me. It should work. Is there a desktop computer to test the mDP in on those monitors? If not, we should direct this thread to the Laptop Video board. Maybe Terry B can offer some troubleshooting steps.

I doubt that the monitors or their mDP to DP cables are bad. Instead of both monitors being connected to the dock at the same time, can you test each monitor, one at a time, on each of the docks DP out? Also, be sure that the docks 130w power adapter is plugged directly into the wall jack, no surge protector or power strip.

I directly plugged the docking station's 130w power adapter into the wall receptacle (no surge protector or power strip).  I power cycled the laptop a couple times, bringing the system up with only one of the monitors up at a time.  The system still does not detect the U2414H monitors.  The monitors instantaneously go into power save mode.

It's your call. I would have Dell Customer Service (using the Dell order numbers) replace the dock first, then move on to the monitors.
