VNC Password is wrong

VNC Password is wrong

Verizon Motorola Droid X Android 2.3.3 PocketCloud Free Version 1.2.117 Mac Mini OSX 10.6.8 Wyse PocketCloud Mac Companion v0.9.1.1 (Beta) LinkSys Router running DD-WRT Port Forwarding is set up on the router for port 5900 Remote Management is on, VNC password is set Manual Connection set up on Android. Host Address is accurate, password is accurate, port is accurate, OS selection is accurate.

When I attempt to connect, I am given a popup "VNC password is wrong" and a field to enter the password. Manually entering the correct password here causes the app to think very briefly and then the same popup appears. The password is correct. I have experimented with short, very simple passwords to be sure.

The same happens if I attempt to use auto-discovery.

The app used to work well, but suddenly stopped (not sure if that coincided with an app update or not).

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Hi JM,
1)Are you signed in on autodiscovery? (is signout active?)
2)Do you see the computers grayed out or active?
3)when you connect using vnc Are you using the vnc server password or mac os password?
Thanks!

I have very been using the VNC password I set under system preferences, sharing, remote management. I have also tried using the osx user login password.

Thanks!

1) I've tried both signed in & signed out (I'm primarily using manual connection, so not sure why it would matter)

2) computers are active (not grayed out, listed as 'on')

3) I've tried both, and also tried setting both passwords the same, but am primarily using the osx vnc password (I've always assumed that's what it's asking for).

Thanks for your response!

Hi Jm, you seem to be using our beta version. Do you see login name in your computer settings? Edit your connection and, Please let me know what you see.
Thank you!

Jminear, may I ask you why you are using manual connection? The purpose of automatic connection is to simplify connections.

Not sure I understand what you mean by 'make sure encryption settings on vnc server is preferred on'? Is this on the app? the Wyse server on the desktop? system preferences on the desktop?

I have only the one computer so attempting to connect using another vnc client is difficult.

Yesterday, after making no changes, the PocketCloud app successfully connected to the Mac. After making no changes, today I am back to 'VNC Password is wrong'. ????

1)Can you please make sure encryption settings on vnc server is preferred on.
2)Try connecting to the same vnc server with chicken vnc or some other desktop vnc client, on the same network as the device.
Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, I was on the same network both times.

My understanding is that the automatic connection runs through the Internet and manual is over local wifi network. Since most of my usage is done when in range of my local network (ie at home) I assumed manual would be more direct, and less finicky. Regardless, I can't connect through either method (same 'wrong password' notification either way)

Hope that helps!

HI Jminear, yesterday when you were able to connect, were you on the same network as today?

Hi Jminear,Are you using the password you set on the vnc server or the remote computer's login name?
Thank you!
