I've got a 1510 also, and recently put a new SSD with Win 7 64-bit on it, and have discovered this issue also. J does 1, K does 2, etc! They keys I'm noticing are in fn mode, are basically 7, 8, 9, 0, u, i, o, p, j, k, l, ;, m, ., and /.

I have generally tried all the driver download suggestions above to no avail - but have thought of an 'acceptable' solution nevertheless.

Just remap the keys with the free third-party tool KeyTweak (google it, it's mentioned on LifeHacker). Use full teach mode and remap J to Fn+J, K to Fn+K, and so on.

Apply and restart, works well and I think it applies registry changes or something!

Interesting observation: the keys work as 'normal' in the windows logon screen: so maybe it's some sort of dell driver/utility (like synaptic tool?) that loads that ruins it! Because, clearly windows itself (whatever generic keyboard driver it loads for the logon screen) works (my logon password includes many of the 'bad blue' keys), so I think it may be the synaptic or some other dell-related tool that's mucking it up. I've tried two of the Alps touchpad installers to no avail and don't feel like trying 20 alps drivers just to see if that's it.

for me, for now, I'm happy enough with the KeyTweak hack and an external keyboard for emergency backup if anything ever goes awry in future!

Basically the quickset should enable the F2 (sleep), F3 (battery) and the Fn operations. If the feature is not working then the driver is not completely compatible with Windows 7 operating system.
