Hi,

You don't mention which version of Windows you're currently running on that system so my first suggestion is to see whether the system is detecting the optical drive in BIOS.

  1. Restart/Turn on your computer
  2. As soon as you see the Dell logo, tap until the message Entering Setup appears.
  3. The Optical-Drive information will be listed here under the Main tab.

You may also want to check out Osprey's Toolkit, a support article put together by one of our more experienced community members.  You can find a lot of information on how to resolve problems with optical drives on that link.

If you still can't get your system to detect your optical drive then please let us know whether the drive is detected in the BIOS and what steps from the toolkit you tried that didn't help, and we'll see what else we can suggest to help you.
