Dell XPS8300 - problem replacing DW1501 network card with DW1520
Dell XPS 8300 came from Dell running Win7 with the DW1501 network card. Ordered a new DW1520 card, opened 8300 desktop, removed the DW1501 and installed the DW1520 in the same slot..(2) connectors, lift (2) "tabs/clips", lift out of socket...very simple to do. Powered 8300, went to Device Manager, found the DW1520 not recognized as Network Adapter, and has yellow triangle next to it (see below). Used my laptop to download driver (R283192.exe) from Dell, extracted it on to the 8300 with no problems. Went to Device Manager to "Update Driver Software", browsed to the location of the new driver, and got error "Windows could not find driver software for your device".
I have physically un-installed and re-installed the new card in the 8300...same problem. If the card was defective, would it even be seen in Device Manager?
Can anyone help with this?

Right click and select properties and provide the hardware IDs...
Note I put an Intel AC 7260 in my system which has performed much better than the 2 Broadcom Cards (DW1501/DW1520).

So I finally got a Broadcom driver that helped...but still didn't work. I now have the device showing in the Device Manager as "Broadcom 802.11n network adapter"...but with yellow triangle, and "can not start device (Code 10)." message. I suspect I just don't have the right driver, and I have looked WAY to much and tried WAY too many drivers. So I have put the DW1501 back in and am using it.
When I connect directly my XPS8300 to the router using Ethernet cable, I get 66Mbs...through the DW1501 (20MHz only), I get 38Mbs.
I wanted to use the DW1520 to move up to 40 MHz..and get the 66Mbs wirelessly. But I've discovered that for just web surfing (loading pages, watching youtube, etc.), I really don't see any difference when connected at 66Mbs (direct) vs 38Mbs (wifi). So I think I'm not going to worry about trying to get a 40MHz wifi card...because for the web surfing I do, I don't think I'm gonna see a difference.
