Changing Laptop keyboard mapping settings
Hi, I bought a
Inspiron 7568 2-in-1
late last year. I noticed that when I hit certain keys like the quote ' and doublequote '' keys they don't actually display on the screen until I the next key. Plus if I certain combinations like quote plus a c I get this displaying ç Seems like the keyboard is mapped to a foreign language - perhaps French. How do I get it to behave like a proper English speaking keyboard. I've searched through the settings for hours and haven't managed to find a setting. My Language is set to English (united kingdom).
Please help

Hi Kim,
What is the current OS installed on the system?
Check the keyboard layout and ensure it is set to English - http://bit.ly/1bAbmUd
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/1U7TiXG - restart the system and check again.
Create a new local admin account and check - http://bit.ly/1JoFhcw
Restart the system in safe mode and check - http://bit.ly/1LHcO2c

Hi Rishi,
I worked it out just after I posted this. My keyboard was set to 'US international' mapping. I changed it to 'US' and that fixed it.
No offence but your response is a bit over the top. It was always just a layout issue. I couldn;t find where to change it.
Nothing to do with BIOS and safe mode and your other suggestions. You should always look for the simple solutions first as a support person.

Hi Kim,
Thank you for the update.
Glad to hear that your issue has been sorted out!
Well, as to my response, I thank you for the feedback.
What I tend to do in each case is to provide a detailed response which includes all possible steps for any customer to try from simple to complicated, so that they do not have to wait for me / any other user to respond and provide the next required step. This helps save loads of time.
