Dell Optiplex 7010 motherboards

So I have a sff 7010 and I want to put in a graphics card that isnt a small form factor one. I am considering buying a 7010 mt and transporting the motherboard into the new chassis. Is this possible?

Only if both motherboards and front panels on the cases have identical wiring in the connectors, and the front panel circuit board in the MT case can be correctly recognized by the SFF motherboard.

Dell frequently uses different connectors in different models and doesn't make that wiring public, meaning unless you or somebody else has mapped those connectors...

Suggest you search these forums to see if anyone has made this switch.

It might be a lot easier to buy a barebones dell 7010 mini tower pc and then add the components (cpu, memory, hard drive) from your 7010 as i have not seen 7010 mini tower chassis only and this works better than trying to put the sff motherboard into the wrong chassis. You can purchase these barebones computers on ebay or another marketplace for like $40-$100.

The back panel is different between the SFF and the MT.

The board won't fit, short of fabricating a custom IO shield.
