Performance upgrade for Dell Vostro 460

Hi I would like to know what components to upgrade my Vostro 460 PC:

Processor, Video card (including power supply), memory (all items or which components to upgrade).

I want to upgrade this PC to play some high graphics video games.

The following is the current system configuration that I have:

Type: Dell Vostro 460

Video Card: Intel HD 2500 Graphics (embedded on motherboard).

Processor: Intel i5-2500 3.30 ghz CPU

Ram: 4 GB (1,333 MHz DDR3).

Slots: (1) PCI Express x16 and (3) PCI Express x1

Power Supply: 350 W

Several years ago I upgraded my Vostro 460 as follows:

  • 8 GB of memory to 16 GB of memory.
  • Hard disk drive (HDD) to Solid State Drive (SSD) with HDD as secondary (both SATA III).
  • Integrated graphics to a dedicated GTX 550Ti graphics card (I'm lead to believe that a 1060 will also work in a Vostro 460, but I can't say for sure).

All these upgrades made a huge performance boost (especially the SSD) and I'm still running with this configuration today.

jsktx thanks for the upgrade advice!!!

I will consider upgrading those components.

Was your Processor always i7-2600?

I was considering upgrading my video card to 7770 level type card like Radeon HD 7700.

I ask because I was thinking that because of the differences in our processor power that I may need to upgrade my process as well.
