Plugging to USB 3.0 - Scanner doesn't work

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my HP LaserJet Pro MFP M26a. I plugged it to the Dell Inspiron  7567 . Printing and copying work fine, but scanner doesn't work.  When I click '' HP Scan'' I get an information that scanner cannot be found. When I used Windows tool to fix this problem, I got the information that USB 2.0 Device cannot properly work with USB 3.0 . I have the latest drivers and I use Windows 10 Home 64 bit version.  Is there any way to make scanner work? If yes, how can I make it on Dell Inspiron 7567

You tried connecting the printer on both USB 3.0 port on the left and right side of the system? Please select Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming Setup and Specifications in the link below and view pages 8 and 9.

When you say latest drivers, does that include the firmware from March of this year?

Since the drivers only specify USB 2.0/1.1, perhaps you need to install the chipset drivers to get full USB compatibility?

Scanners have always been problematic after OS updates.  But since that system has Win 10 drivers it may work.  The Readiris Pro 15 driver seems to be for scanning..

I used Dell System Detect to scan for the latest drivers and this program says that I have the latest drivers. Any other ideas ?  I was trying a lot of methods and none of them worked. Please, help me because I'm really frustrated and I want to scan files, not only print and copy.

The firmware update suggestion was for the PRINTER, not your PC, so using Dell System Detect would not detect a firmware update there.  You'd need to go to HP's website under Support & Drivers to find a firmware update for that printer.

I have already updated firmware for the printer and installed  Readiris Pro 15 and scanner still cannot be detected. I'm in touch with HP forum, here you can get more information about my problem :  h30434.www3.hp.com/.../6293392

When you go to Settings-Devices-Printers and Scanners, is your printer listed?

If you select it is there a drop down box as in the attachment?  Mine is, of course, and Epson printer but it should work the same if you have the correct software installed.

Just a note, I have not tried scanning on my system.

I just went through and installed mine on the 7567 using a USB cable.  I used the port next to the power plug.

I installed the software from Epson first.  During that install it told me when to plug the device in.  Everything went normally with my downloaded software from Epson.

When I select the scanner option from Settings, I get a page which shows the scanner and shows Scanner properties and gives me the ability to get a scanner A-pp.

If yours shows you need to plug it in it sounds like it is not communicating with the Scanner part of the device.  The printer works fine, right?  Did your USB cable come with the printer?

You might try changing the USB port you are using.  The one on the right - back is for power sharing, if you have that enabled.

If it still doesn't work, I would remove the device and start over.  My Epson installed in Win 10 without me doing anything but it did not have full functionality without the FAX.  Microsoft FAX and Scan seemed to work with the Scanner...

I have already tried connecting device to every USB 3.0 port on my laptop and I'm still receiving information that I should connect a scanner to start. I'm tired of this situation and I think HP is just a rubbish, which demands USB 2.0 port connection in 2017 and never heard of backward compatibility ... Please, do not close this subject yet. I will inform you, how and when this case ends. Maybe, you are curious :)

My customer complaint has already been accepted and HP LaserJet Pro MFP M26nw has been sent to me. I have connected this device with my laptop through Wi-Fi. Now, every function works like a charm, I can print, copy and scan. I want to thank you for your help and support, I really appreciate that.  This topic can be closed.
